About the Artist
I drop my bag and walk barefoot to the center. I’m weighted - weighted by the world, the world wanting everything from me. The studio is empty and music fills the piercing silence. The music slowly washes over me. The weight goes away. As the music continues its serenade, I begin to move, my thoughts and feelings become energy pulsing through my body. I’m dancing for me and only me. Here in this studio, I am the only one.
Dancing.
Art is dancing. It is somewhere that I go for only me. My art is representative of my dancing - an emotional release of expression derived from the weights of my thoughts and feelings. It is an expression of expression and a representation of when it is just me dancing, my body, my freeing myself. I am the viewer,
making art.
My art is an exploration of the energetic conversation between free-flowing form and the visual generation of spontaneous thoughts and feeling. To communicate the depth of inner emotions, I construct movement through layering of mediums and the motion of free-moving mark making. My art is spontaneously planned, spontaneously made. I choose paint, chalk, conte, crayon - media that make marks and that can fly across the surface. I want to explore the connection between art, gesture, mark-making, motion, dance, and expression. My current work is aimed at finding the niche intersection of these dimensions.
